At first, it was proximity to where we lived & some neighbours’ children were going to LCMS school, so we decided to try it. We had looked at other schools nearby and although we wished for more outdoor for Miko, the spaciousness of LCMS school was worth a try.
We quickly got addicted to the noticeable growth of our son, we noticed the care and treatment of Miko in school, the creative and varied learning methods & the skills he attained within each short session. You really put in a great deal of effort in to everyday lesson plans.
When we least expected it, and still worried that he isn’t getting as much outdoor experience, which had even caused us to move from the condo to a village further away, an outdoor school trip popped up to an animal farm. He enjoyed it so much that we took him back there twice as a family.
And then there was the Lion King themed performance - a grand finale to a superb year of schooling. Some parts of Lion king e.g the cliff where Simba stands is from a gorge in Kenya, a place called Hell’s gate. Miko is Kenyan-German. ‘Hakuna Matata’, Simba, Pumba are Swahili words. The language spoken in Kenya is Swahili. An African-themed recital showed us that the school is inclusive and diverse.
LCMS has given Miko something to look forward to everyday, it provided an early opportunity to begin interacting with babies who were his age, seated storytelling, dance, world art & more complex concepts like learning about the planets at 2 years.
He gained a noticeable surge in vocabulary, an understanding of routine (circle time, classroom songs & simple repetitions such as prayer, removing shoes, placing in the shelf and wearing them again). He learnt to follow instructions within group dynamics where there are other boss babies whereas at home he was used to being the only boss.
The attentive staff, constant updates, religious background & treatment of children as bonafide human beings whose individual needs and demands are acted upon and not ignored has greatly built the capacity of Miko, and taught him to be less shy.
All this has resulted in an easy choice to send Miko’s brother Hugo to LCMS.
We are convinced LCMS is the best choice for any child and wish to be a child again so we can experience early learning the LCMS way.
